Installed Kubuntu on my old ThinkPad last night
Kubuntu is the Ubunto distribution for older systems that don't have a ton of RAM (I'm at the mininum requirements as is). My initial impression is really positive. I am happy to report that it was a really painless install. For the somewhat technically savvy, there's no reason not to do it. I would say they are about 80% of the way there making it easy enough for the average joe to use. Even better it worked out of the box without any tweaking -- all devices I attached to the system worked without any effort on my part. Now I need to learn how to use linux, but there are a lot of resources for that. I'll post my experiences here.
