Windows Update, Vista, and WSUS

Happy New Year!

I decided one of my first background tasks of the year would be to install Vista on my second machine. The installation went very smoothly, no problems at all. However, I kept getting a Windows Update error 8007000D whenever I attempted to connect to Windows Update. I believe this was occurring because our domain has a WSUS server that most likely has not been updated for Vista.

Thankfully, I found this TechNet post with instructions on how to configure the registry on your Vista workstation to use its local policy (which connects to the internet for updates by default).
